Japan America Chamber Ensemble was founded in the fall of 2000 at the prompting of Etsuko Price, a member of Japan America Society, in order to perform at the Societies' annual fund raising event.

After the very well received performance the members decided to keep and expand the ensemble by adding more members and instruments such as Koto (Japanese Harp).

The group has regular monthly rehearsals in Torrance. The musical repertory is dedicated to traditional/folk music of Japan, and includes American standard music. This allows the group to  explore unique cross-cultural musical concepts.

The ensemble has as it's music director, the enormously talented Mr. Ark Sano. Mr. Sano serves as a composer, an arranger, and conductor for the group of very talented players.

Currently the ensemble is performing actively at various venues for a variety of occasions, such as cultural festivals, community organization events and assisted living nursing facilities serving the Japanese community, beside two free public concerts annually.
